Sigourney Weaver who played Ellen Ripley in the Alien film series

Born Susan Weaver in October 1949, New York City.  She was born into a showbiz family, her mother being English actress Elizabeth Inglis and her father a TV executive at NBC.  She changed her first name to Sigourney based on a character in "The Great Gatsby".  Sigourney is best known for her role as Ellen Ripley in the "Alien" movie franchise.  She is also well known as Dana Barrett from the "Ghost Busters" movie series.  Some consider her the "Queen of Sci-Fi" due to her success in science fiction movies and is considered by many as the first female action movie star.

She began stage acting while in school in 1965, she got her first TV appearance on the 1976 show "Somerset".  She appeared briefly in Woody Allen's "Annie Hall" (1977) and starred in the TV mini-series "The Best of Families".  Appearing in "Madman" in 1978 was followed the next year by her signature role in "Alien" as Ellen Ripley along with Tom Skerritt (Dallas), John Hurt (Kane), Yaphet Kotto (Parker), Ian Holm (Ash), Veronica Cartwright (Lambert), and Harry Dean Stanton (Brett).  This would lead to a string of sequels that would stretch across three decades including "Aliens", "Alien³", and "Alien Resurrection".

Somehow in each of the "Alien" films, we always managed to see Sigourney Weaver in her undies

Also in 1979 Sigourney appeared in two of the three "3 by Cheever" drama series.  She stared in other movies such as "Eyewitness" (1981) and "The Year of Living Dangerously" in 1982 with Mel Gibson.

It was in 1984 that she played the role of Dana Barrett in the hit comedy "Ghost Busters" with Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis, and Rick Moranis.  This would lead to "Ghostbusters II" in the series in which she would appear.

  3. What's with "She reunited with 'Alien' co-star William Hurt in 'The Village'"?

That was John Hurt in Alien (or, rather, Alien was in John Hurt :)

And why is she even on "So whatever happened to . . ."? She's been an A-list star for over 30 years.
