Jaleel White best known as Steve Erkel on the TV show "Family Matters"

Jaleel White was born Jaleel Ahmad White November 1976 in Pasadena, California.  He is best known as Steve "Erkel" from the television comedy "Family Matters".

Jaleel got his acting career stared when he was 3 years old doing television commercials.  In 1984 he then appeared on an episode of "The Jeffersons" starring Isabel Sanford, Sherman Hemsley, Marla Gibbs, Roxie Roker, Franklin Cover, and Paul Benedict.  That same year he landed an uncedited role in "Silence of the Heart" starring Charlie Sheen, Mariette Hartley, Dana Hill, Howard Hesseman, Alexandra Powers, Elizabeth Berridge, Silvana Gallardo, Sherilyn Fenn, and Melissa Hayden.

In 1985, Jaleel appeared in the TV movie "Kids Don't Tell" co-starring Michael Ontkean, JoBeth Williams, Ari Meyers, and Leo Rossi. He was then offered a role on the TV series "Charlie and Company" starring Flip Wilson and Gladys Knight.  However, the show only lasted one season.

Jaleel then appeared in shows and movies such as "The Leftovers" co-starring Pamela Adlon, Andrea Barber, Lucy Butler, and Bernadette Birkett (1986); "Mr. Belvedere" starring Christopher Hewett, Ilene Graff, Brice Beckham, Tracy Wells, Rob Stone, and Bob Uecker (1987); "Good Morning, Miss Bliss" starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Hayley Mills and Dustin Diamond (1987); and "Cadets" starring Soleil Moon Frye, Richard Roundtree and Barclay DeVeau (1988).

It was in 1989 that Jaleel was cast in the role of Steve Urkel in the TV series "Family Matters".  The show also starred Reginald VelJohnson (Carl Winslow), Kellie Shanygne Williams (Laura Winslow), Darius McCrary (Eddie Winslow), JoMarie Payton (Harriette Winslow), Rosetta LeNoire (Mother Winslow), and Cherie Johnson (Maxine Johnson).  Jaleel played the role in 204 out of 215 episodes until the show ended in 1998.

During his run in "Family Matters", Jaleel also starred in shows and movies such as "Camp Cucamonga" co-starring John Ratzenberger, Chad Allen, Jennifer Aniston, Candace Cameron Bure, Lauren Tewes, Sherman Hemsley, and "Wonder Years" stars Danica McKellar and Josh Saviano (1990); In 1990, Jaleel guest starred as Steve Urkel on the show "Full House" co-starring Bob Saget, John Stamos, Dave Coulier, Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Mary-Kate Olsen, Ashley Olsen, Lori Loughlin, and  Andrea Barber.

Jaleel also put his voice talents to work in "The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" in 1993 and "Sonic the Hedgehog" in 1993-94; "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" starring Will Smith, Alfonso Ribeiro, James Avery, Karyn Parsons, and Tatyana Ali (1995); more voice work in "Sonic Christmas Blast!" (1996); a couple of appearances again as Steve Erkel in "Step by Step" starring Patrick Duffy, Suzanne Somers, Brandon Call, Staci Keanan, Christine Lakin, and Angela Watson (1991-97); "Meego" starring Bronson Pinchot, Ed Begley Jr., Michelle Trachtenberg, Jonathan Lipnicki, and Will Estes (1997); and voice acting again in "Quest for Camelot" co-starring Jessalyn Gilsig, Cary Elwes, Andrea Corr, Gary Oldman, Eric Idle, Don Rickles, Jane Seymour, Céline Dion, Pierce Brosnan, Bronson Pinchot, and Gabriel Byrne (1998).

After "Family Matters", Jaleel starred in many movies and shows such as "Our Friend, Martin" voice acting co-starring Edward Asner, Angela Bassett, Lucas Black, LeVar Burton, Jessica Marie Garcia, Danny Glover, Whoopi Goldberg, Samuel L. Jackson, James Earl Jones, and Ashley Judd (1999); and more voice acting in the series "Sonic Underground" from 1999 to 2004.

In 1999, Jaleel was cast in the role of J. Calvin Frazier in the TV show "Grown Ups" co-starring Dave Ruby and Marissa Ribisi.  The show lasted for two years ending in 2000.  Jaleel moved on into the new millennium starring in shows and movies such as "111 Gramercy Park" co-starring Frank Langella, Peter Strauss, Erica Durance, Brittany Daniel, Tippi Hedren, Joel Grey, Mimi Kuzyk, Meredith Monroe, Kate Hodge, and Joanna Going (2003); and "Half & Half" starring Essence Atkins, Rachel True, Chico Benymon, Valarie Pettiford, and Telma Hopkins (2005).

In his recent accomplishments, Jaleel landed a lead role "Road to the Altar" co-starring Leyna Weber, Tara Ochs, Vanessa Celso, Ari Zagaris, and Alex Bovicelli (2009).  He appeared in "Psych" starring James Roday, Dulé Hill, Corbin Bernsen, Timothy Omundson, Maggie Lawson, and Kirsten Nelson (2009).  He landed a lead regular role as Reggie Culkin in the series "Fake It Till You Make It" co-starring Betsy Rue and Steve Rifkin (2010).  He landed another lead film role in "Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus" co-starring Gary Stretch and Sarah Lieving (2010).

We will be seeing more of Jaleel in the up and coming "Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer" co-starring Heather Graham, Preston Bailey, Cameron Boyce, Megan Franich, Janet Varney, and Ashley Jackson.
