Sonny Shroyer - Deputy Enos Strate from The Dukes of Hazzard

Sonny Shroyer who played Deputy Enos Strate was that not-so-bright deputy who spent more time ogling over Daisy Duke (Catherine Bach) than helping out Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane (James Best) along with his fellow deputy Cletus Hogg (Rick Hurst).  He was born in 1935 as Otis Shroyer in Georgia.  He worked in his Father's ice cream stand.  He was an excellent football player in high school and college which later helped him land a role in The Longest Yard with Burt Reynolds.  Sonny has a more extensive acting career than you may think.  He first starred in the movie Payday in 1973.  He then steadily appeared in many movies over the years including several films in the 1970s with Burt Reynolds including The Longest Yard, Gator,  and Smokey and the Bandit.  He also starred in both the TV and movie versions of The Young Runaways.  During the The Dukes of Hazzard years he also did some other work in both TV and movies including Freedom Road and The Devil and Max Devlin.  In 1980-81 there was an spin-off with his own show called Enos which was nominated for two People's Choice awards.
