Michele Lee who played Karen (Fairgate) MacKenzie on the TV show Knots Landing

She was born Michelle Lee Dusick in Los Angeles in 1942.  She dropped her last name when she became an actress.  She is best known as Karen Fairgate, later Karen MacKenzie on "Knots Landing" which was a spin-off show of "Dallas".  She is also well known for starring in "The Love Bug" in 1968. Her father was well known makeup artist, Jack Dusick.

Michele got her acting start in 1961 playing the role of Lila in "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis". After a six year absence from the acting scene, she appeared in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" in 1967 as well as "The Red Skelton Hour".

In 1968 she starred in the Disney movie "The Love Bug" as Carole.  It went on to become the top movie of the year.  Next, in 1969 she starred in "The Comic", "Marcus Welby, M.D." (3 episodes 1970-72), "Alias Smith and Jones" (3 episodes, 1972), "Love, American Style" (5 episodes, 1971-73), "The Michele Lee Show" (1974), "Lights, Camera, Monty!" (1975), "Dark Victory" (1976), and "Fantasy Island"
with Ricardo Montalban and Hervé Villechaize (2 episodes, 1978-79).  She also performed on Broadway in the play "Seesaw" in 1974

In 1979 she began her notable role as Karen MacKenzie (originally Karen Fairgate) in the TV series "Knots Landing" a spin-off from "Dallas".  The focus of the show was on Gary and Valene Ewing from the Ewing family in "Dallas".  Michele's co-stars were Ted Shackleford, Joan Van Ark, Donna Mills, Kevin Dobson, William Devane, Nicollette Sheridan, Julie Harris, and Pat Peterson.  Michele continued the role in "Knots Landing" for 344 episodes until 1993.

During her time on the set of "Knots Landing", Michele also did other shows and movies such as "The Love Boat"
starring Gavin MacLeod, Lauren Tewes, Bernie Kopell, Fred Grandy, Jill Whelan, and Ted Lange (6 episodes, 1977-82), "Parade of Stars" (1983), "A Letter to Three Wives" (1985), "Single Women Married Men" (1989), "The Fatal Image" (1990), "My Son Johnny" (1991), and "When No One Would Listen" (1992) which she also produced.

She continued on with "Something Wilder" (1995), "Color Me Perfect" (1996), "Knots Landing: Back to the Cul-de-Sac" (1997), "Murder on Shadow Mountain" (1999),  "Miss Match" (2003), "Along Came Polly" (2004), "Will & Grace" (2005), and "Family Guy" (voice 2010).

Michele was also director in a few works such as "Color Me Perfect" which she also starred in, and an episode of "Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman". She also produced several TV movies she also starred such as "Color Me Perfect" and "When No One Would Listen.  Michele also wrote the script for "Color Me Perfect".  In October 2010, Michele directed and performed in "Broadway Originals!".
