She began her acting career by appearing in a couple of episodes of the TV show "Baretta" in 1975. The following year she appeared in the show "Most Wanted".

It was immediately after that she began playing the role of Janet in "Three's Company" co-starring John Ritter, Suzanne Somers and Priscilla Barnes in later episodes after Somers left the show. Also included were supporting cast members Don Knotts (Ralph Furley), Audra Lindley (Helen Roper), and Norman Fell (Stanley Roper). The latter two would later form a spin-off series called "The Ropers".
During the run of "Three's Company" from 1976 to 1984, Joyce also appeared in other shows and movies such as With This Ring co-starring Tony Bill, Don Most, Tom Bosley, Diana Canova, Barbara Cason, Scott Hylands, Betty White, Dick Van Patten, and John Forsythe (1978), "Supertrain", "The Love Boat" starring Gavin MacLeod, Lauren Tewes, Bernie Kopell, Fred Grandy, Jill Whelan, and Ted Lange; "Steve Martin: Comedy is not Pretty", "Airplane II: The Sequel" and "Finder of Lost Loves".

After a ten year absence from the acting scene, Joyce starred in the TV movie "Spring Fling!" in 1995. Then five years later she appeared in an episode of "Hope Island" and in the following year she starred in the movie "18". In 2003 she appeared in "The Nick at Nite Holiday Special".
Another seven years passed by before she starred in the film "Call of the Wild" in 2009, then again in "Failing Better Now" in 2010.
With two movies in production for 2011 including "The Great Flight" and the voice of the mom gorilla in "Stork", we will most likely be seeing and hearing more of Joyce in the future!

ReplyDeleteJoyce DeWitt Was and still is a very good actress. I love watching as an actress with Jack and the other crew in Threes Company. She was beautiful then and she is still one of the most beautiful actresses I have seen. She is truly a legend.
ReplyDeleteI loved the entire cast and still enjoy watching THREES COMPANY. Joyce was one of my favorite cast member and never cease to amaze at Jacks exceptional talent.

ReplyDeleteSuzanne Somers was replaced by Jenilee Harrison as Cindy Snow, but, she didn't work out as expected, and hoped for, so they got Priscilla Barnes as Nurse Terri Alden. Three's Company is a very funny tv show!!
ReplyDeleteVal Dunham Well, I love Three's Company. It is on every morning in Pa from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. It is still so funny. Sure miss the crew, especially Jack. I also enjoyed Chrissy, Janet, and Terri.
