Ben Jones who played 'Cooter' of the TV show The Dukes of Hazzard

Ben Jones played the role of Cooter Davenport in The Dukes of Hazzard. He was the mechanic who built and maintained "The General Lee" which was the bright orange '69 Dodge Charger that belonged to Bo and Luke Duke (John Schneider and Tom Wopat).  He also helped on many of their exploits against Boss Hogg and Sheriff Coltrane.

Coltrane), Sonny Shroyer (Enos)

Most surprisingly given the character he played, Ben has had a very active political career since The Dukes of Hazzard.  He served as a congressman for Georgia from 1989 to 1993.  He is a well known writer of political essays and even penned a play. He wrote a book entitled "Red Neck Boy in the Promised Land". He now owns a store/museum that sells Dukes of Hazzard memorabilia called "Cooter's Place".
